chocolate covered cherry smoothie

I am a smoothie fanatic.  I have probably tried every single combination known to man but I am never able to recreate the same thing twice.  I open the fridge and throw in whatever fruits and greens I can find.  However, my trainer recently introduced me to a protein packed chocolate almond butter called nuts 'n more and 2 tbsp of this stuff has a whopping 14g of protein, 5g of fiber and only 1g of sugar.  Naturally, all I could think of was how I was going to incorporate this stuff into a smoothie.  Alas, I give you my chocolate covered cherry smoothie! I have made this smoothie about 10 times and it always comes out the same delicious way.  This drink is packed with protein, fiber and tons of nutrients.  It's low in sugar, cherries are packed with tons of health benefiting nutrients and antioxidants (from their dark red skin) and did I mention it tastes like heaven? Like, I look forward to my workout so I can drink this baby afterwards.

Chocolate Covered Cherry Protein Smoothie:

1 scoop VegaOne chocolate protein powder (or any other chocolate protein brand)
1 hefty tbsp Chocolate almond butter **Whatever you do, PLEASE DO NOT substitute with nutella - yuck**
about 5 ice cubes
A handful of frozen cherries, pitted of course
1 tbsp Greens plus or any leafy greens you desire. If this scares you, I assure you the mounds of chocolate will disguise any "leafy" taste.
1 tbsp chia seeds
1/4 cup chocolate almond milk
1/2 water or coconut water

Blend it up, serve it up and enjoy!

  1. This looks divine. Bonus: it doesn't incorporate ingredients I've never heard of and have to search for like a scavenger! Love all the substitutions!
